Injury Upsets “Come-back” (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) j ARCADIA (California), April 8. The “come-back” of Johnny Longden, the cham'pion jockey with 6032 victories, who retired last month, was called off this week because of a minor injury, United Press International reported. The 58-year-o!d Longden had planned to drive in a trotting race at Santa Anita on Wednesday. However, a horse kicked him in the wrist on Tuesday and the injury was too painful for him to drive. Longden, who is currently training thoroughbreds at Hollywood Park, has occasionally vacated he saddle for the sulky. Three years ago he drove In a race at Santa Anta and finished fourth with Doctor Demon, and on a few earlier occasions he also drove at county fairs. He said on Wednesday he would drive for friends in future, as long as it did not interfere with hla training com nucmanto.
