Koral Likely To Win Great Western

"The Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL. Final training trials may not have thrown a great deal of light on Easter chances, but the early favourites for the first of the Riverton Racing Club’s Easter carnival today have stood their ground. There is no doubt that Koral will be the favourite for the Great Western Steeplechase, and his stablemates, Eiffel Tower and Hazy Light will be the respective favourites for the Riverton Cup and the Aparima Handicaps, the two legs of the T.A.B. double. Koral will be attempting to win his sixth race on end and Hazy Light will be going for his fifth successive success and his first in open company. If both Eiffel Tower and Ettrick start in the first leg, the Riverton Cup, they will form a formidable bracket. Tundra, Flying York and Golden Glen will also come in for solid support while some interest is being shown in the Gore Cup winner, Flyway, and the three-year-old, Certain. The Aparima Handicap is very open. Hazy Light, Belltana and Magic Mirror are three competent light-weights, all trying for their first wins in open company. They should be tested by Bold Venture and Gladaub which have good records in top sprint company. There has been rain during the week but the track recovers quickly. It wi-W provide good going but will be easy.
