RIDERS FOR TRIALS

Canterbury Names Six

Only the Canterbury cyclists who were asked to ride in the national Empire Games trials by the New Zealand selectors, have been nominated by the Canterbury centre.

After the national hard track championships in Christchurch last month, the selectors (Messrs H. R. Dutton, M. T. Gamble and R. T. Sowry) named a list of 20 cyclists they wished to see at the trials at Auckland on April 21 and 22: However, centres were free to make further nominations and Auckland, for example, has named four other riders. The Canterbury nominees are J. H. A. Cleary (time trial), C. B. Fitzgerald (time trial). M. W. Litolff (sprint) and S. J. Stephen (individual pursuit) for the track—they will also ride in the 10 miles—and T. J. Tabak and J. S. Danielson for the road trial on April 23. Tabak, the national individual pursuit champion, did not wish to be nominated for the track trials.
