Last Match Deciding
The Christchurch senior women’s tennis competition will be completed next Saturday. Of two matches In the final round, one was to have been played last Saturday by arrangement, but Shirley found itself unable to appear either then or next Saturday, so Edgeware won by default.
They were the two bottom teams, and the result will make no difference to the places.
In the last contest the two leaders, Avonside and Elmwood, will meet, and if Elmwood wins on sets it could win by the required five points. At present the points position is Avonside 92, Elmwood 87, Edgeware 66. Shirley 23.
