Globe Direct Dead
"The Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL. A former top-class pacer, Globe Direct, died in Southland during the week. He had been at the stud tn the Wyndham district for several seasons but was not very widely patronised. Globe Direct was a champion pacer, winning more than £20.000 in stakes and at on.e stage of his career held a world record of 3min 9 2-ssec over a mile and a half on the grass.
In all, he won 14 races and was 30 times placed. He was by Springfield Globe out of the Jack Potts mare. Moldy Direct, a noted producer and a member of the Tairane family.
Globe Direct stood at the stud of Mr J. Beange, of Wyndham. His best progeny include Gi’ldirect <2min 4sec), Mister Chips, Gatley and Direct Terms.
