LOCAL POLLS
Revision Planned (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. March 2. A bill revising and consolidating the Local Elections and Polls Act would be promoted tills year, the Minister of Local Government (Mr Seath) said today. He told the annual conference of the Muncipal Association that in spite of this the best way to overcome voter apathy at the elections was for the local bodies to strengthen themselves. Commenting on the results of postal voting trials in some areas at the last elections, Mr Seath said it had met with fairly general approval and he had received requests for the system to be approved in specified districts in the coming elections.
