TRAPPED DOG
Rescue Off Cliff (N.Z. Preet Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 13 A sheepdog worth £lOO was rescued from an outcrop on a 150 ft cliff face at Manutahi by the Hawera Fire Brigade yesterday. The dog had been on a narrow ledge for two days but was in good condition. The three-hour rescue started at 6 a.m. A Manutahi farmer, Mr R. L. Symes, noticed two days ago that his dog Rock had gone missing. On Friday night as he was searching the cliff face he saw Rock perched on a ledge. The dog had fallen 100 ft from the cliff top and had no way of escape. A senior fireman this morning went down the cliff on a line and coaxed the dog into a wool pack.
A tractor was used to haul the fireman and dog back up the cliff.
