Driver Fails Test

A car being driven by a man taking his driver’s licence test yesterday afternoon mounted the footpath in Cathedral square, knocked down two women and hit into a bus shelter.

The two women, Mrs J. Stewart, of 109 Canon street, and Mrs I. G. Bruce, of 23 McGregors road, suffered shock and abrasions. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged. The accident happened at 12.5 p.m. A traffic officer later reported that the man had failed his driving test.
