THE DISCOVERY OF A GERMAN 500LB BOMB in the mud of the River Thames recently closed for a period two railway stations, two bridges, and a road. The bomb was dropped 25 years ago during a raid on London. It was retrieved by six naval frogmen near Blackfriars Bridge, which is being widened. This photograph shows a subway at Blackfriars with its warning notice.
