U.S. GIRLS TRIUMPH
Four Record Swims (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL. In all four events that the touring American girl swimmers competed last night at Invercargill, New Zealand short-course records were bettered. The feature race was the 220 yards breaststroke in which the 20-year-old Cynthia Goyette, a gold medal winner at Tokyo, easily outswam her team-mate, Jane Barkman, to win in 2min 51.3 sec, ssec better than the national shortcourse record. Results: — 220 Yards Freestyle.—J. Barkman (U.S.) 1, S. Finneran (U.S.) 2, D. Pfeiffer (U.S.) 3. Time, 2:19.3. 100 Yards Backstroke. —M. Olcese (U.S.) 1, J. Humbarger (U.S.) 2, E.
