WORKED WELL

“The Press’’ Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Plantation caught the eye by the manner in which he worked over five furlongs at Awapuni yesterday. The Campbell Handicap candidate was much better than Torere at the finish of five furlongs. The stablemates, Dark Chick and Tainoch, ran a fine trial, and Narbada was no less pleasing.

On the course proper Plantation had Torere working at the end of five furlongs in Imin 6sec, the last three In 39 3-ssec. Plantation worked in his best style, and might make amends for last week’s failure when he contests the Wanganui second leg.

Dark Chick and Tainoch, which look certain to go well in the middle distance races at Wanganui, ran together over seven furlongs in Imin 39sec, the last six in Imin 25sec and the last three in 41 3-ssec. They were allowed to go easily, and both impressed. Dark Chick appeals over a mile and a half tomorrow.

Narbada was better than Kenrick over seven furlongs in Imin 3Ssec, the last six in Imin 24 2-ssec, and the last three in 41sec. Narbada is well, and it will surprise if she fails to go well in the Earle Handicap.
