FISHERMEN RESCUED

Swept Out To Sea fN.Z. Preaa A.tjociafton) ROTORUA, January 31. Two men were rescued about 500 yards from the Rangitaiki river mouth at Thornton today after their boat had foundered on the bar. The men, Messrs I. Vanstone and A. Taylor, both of McCracken’s road, near Edgecumbe, were attempting to cross the bar at 5.40 a.m. on a fishing expedition when the 16ft runabout struck a sandbar. The boat overturned and the men were thrown into the water and swept nearly half a mile out to sea.

Two small boats owned by Messrs P. Baird and C. Tunnicliffe picked up the men.
