Burning Launch
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 30. Two men leapt into the sea when a cabin cruiser erupted in flames about 100 yards off the Orakei wharf at 4 p.m. today. They were quickly picked up by another launch. One was the owner, Michael Moodabe, jun., of 14 Edgerly avenue, Epsom. Both men escaped injury. The Kohimarama Yacht Club’s patrol boat towed the burning launch into shallow water and eventually beached it near the Tamaki Yacht Club. Fire engines were waiting and quickly extinguished the flames. The launch is thought to be a total loss.
