AUSTRALIA DAY
Observance In Christchurch Australia Day, the official national day of Australia, would be celebrated on Wednesday with an official reception at Elizabeth House, Christchurch, said the Australian Trade Commissioner in the South Island (Mr M. G. B. Coultas) yesterday. i About 350 guests would be i present, including some from las far afield as Invercargill and the West Coast. Australia Day, said Mr Coultas, commemorated the arrival of the First Fleet of 11 ships at Sydney Cove in 1789. “This 178th anniversary will be observed all over the world,” said Mr Coultas. The host at the Christchurch reception will- be Mr Coultas.
