DJAKARTA, Jan. 20. President Sukarno has approved proposals to cut the price of food and petrol.

The new rupiah is worth 1000 old rupiahs. The announcement came after a week of demonstrations by students angered over rising prices, and an open Cabinet meeting to which the President invited student leaders last week.
