Short-Manned

Labour is still short at Lyttelton and at 7 a.m. yesterday, an additional 180 men would have been required to man all vessels in port. Vessels short-manned were the Kawatiri, Konini, Moanui and Crusader. Two large vessels, the Port Melbourne and the Rangitoto, lay at anchor all day. Among vessels due today is the Galway, which will berth at Cashin quay. The congestion shows little sigh of easing.
