Waimakariri Bridge Work

Work on the construction of two road bridges across the Waimakariri river will start again on Monday. Contractors have already built eight of the 16 piers for the western bridge which is due to be completed in August, 1967. Preliminary work has also started on the eastern bridge which is due for completion in May, 1969. Further sealing on the West Coast road is set down for next week. The Ministry of Works plans to start sealing the , four-mile Cass straight with la one and a half inch layer lof tar mix.
