Magistrate's Court Apprentice Fined £10 On Assault Charge
Toko Temoana, aged 19, an apprentice carpenter, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to charges of being found in a yard without lawful excuse on January 5, and of assaulting Aubrey Piner at 26 Rosewame street on the same date. Messrs R. W. Gormack and J. H. Stevens, Justices of the Peace, fined Temoana £lO on each charge. FINED £3 Hector Douglas Dickson, aged 62, a war pensioner, pleaded guilty to a charge of being drunk in the grounds of the Coronation Hospital on January 5. Sergeant P. J. Alty said that it was Dickson’s fourth appearance over the holiday period for a similar offence. Dickson was fined £3. ASSAULT
A man aged 35, whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting a woman. He was fined £5. OBSCENE LANGUAGE
Trevor Christopher Reekie, aged 23. a painter, pleaded guilty to a charge of using obscene language in His Lordship’s Hotel on January 5. Sergeant Alty said Reekie
had refused to give his home address to the police. The Court fined Reekie £lO and ordered the fine to be paid immediately, or alternatively 11 days gaol. REMANDED Leonard Martin, aged 22, a tussock board worker, appeared on charges of attempted false pretences on January 5 and of stealing a cheque book between December 31 and January 5. He was remanded till January 7. Bail was allowed.
