Walhalla Lame After Gallop

Walhalla was lame after a gallop at Riccarton yesterday and will not run in the Jack Reedy Memorial Hack Handicap at Kumara tomorrow.

Walhalla faltered inside the last 50 yards of a half-mile gallop and finished half a length behind Sirtax, whose main value in the M. J. Wadley stable these days is as a lead horse for youngsters in' the team.

They galloped on the inside of the trial grass, which gave good footing after earlymorning rain. WINNING FORM

Mister Bud, a stablemate of Walhalla, did one of few gallops of interest. Ridden by A. H. Eastwood, Mister Bud recorded 51 4-ssec for a half mile and 38sec for the last three furlongs. Mister Bud, a winner at Washdyke last week, will run in the Flying Handicap at Kumara.

Filspar, unbeaten in two starts, both at Washdyke, in his holiday racing, ran seven

furlongs easily in lmin 39 3-ssec. He will be running out hack nominations when he runs in the Jack Reedy Memorial Hack Handicap at Kuntara. N. T. Cowles has been engaged to ride him. Danny Kaye will be X-rayed to find the extent of the damage he received in a fall at Washdyke last week. The trouble is believed to be in a shoulder. He is still very lame.
