15 Ordered To Pay Up

The 15 African countries who withdrew from the 1966 World Cup soccer preliminary competition and later refused to pay a £l2 fine, have been given until March 31 to pay up. The African countries withdrew from section 16 in protest against the qualifying system, claiming that at least one African nation should have been represented among the 16 finalists who will contest the trophy in England next July.

The nations Who withdrew were: Algeria, Cameroons, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana. Guinea, Liberia, Libya, Nigeria, Mali, Morocco. Senegal, Sudan, Tunisia and the United Arab Republic.
