SYDNEY, Dec. 28. A naval surgeon spent an hour and a half at the bottom of a 60ft rock crevice near Nowra, in southern New South Wales, yesterday, shielding a critically injured man from waves which crashed over them.
The man, who fell into the crevice while returning from a fishing trip with a friend, died before he could be hauled to the cliff top.
