Cook Strait Attempt
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 27. The youngest swimmer ever to attempt conquering Cook Strait plans to do so on Friday or Saturday.
He is Brian Wilson, aged 16, of Napier, who has been training for his swim for many months. His father, Mr I. G. Wilson, is his coach. Mr Wilson is a professional swimming coach at the Napier municipal baths. Yesterday Brian swam 14 miles in Hawke Bay as a preliminary to the main bout.
The weather will decide which day he tackles Cook Strait.
