Obituary MR R. H. ELLIS
“The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN. Mr Robert Henry (Bobbie) Ellis, who died at Dunedin on Sunday, was one of the top jockeys 50 years ago. Mr Ellis, who was 71 when he died, was attached to the stable of his father, Mr John Ellis, when the family owned Mosgiel Park, which had previously been the Taieri Amateur Turf Club’s course.
The best known horses from the stable included My Lawyer, Ajudge, Osculate, Benefit, Adjuter and Bonny Olive. After lie retired from race riding Mr Ellis worked for Mr D. P. Wilson, who purchased the Mosgiel Park property from the Ellis family.
