New Record Contract

(N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) WASHINGTON. Dec. 22. The United States Defence Department yesterday officially awarded Lockheed Aircraft Corporation the biggest single military contract in American historv—--1,363.327,000 dollars—for development of the CSA, the world’s largest jet aircraft. The firm will build 58 of the new jet transports. An additional 500 million dollars will be spent on engines for the aircraft under a separate contract to be awarded to General Electric. The United States Defence Secretary. Mr Robert McNamara. announced on September 30 that Lockheed would get the CSA contract. The CSA will weigh 350 tons and will carry loads of 250.0001 b as far as 3200 miles
