NEW DEPUTY-CHIEF FIRE OFFICER
Mr C. E. W. Stevenson has been appointed Deputy-Chief Fire Officer of the Christchurch Fire Brigade. He succeeds Mr C. H. Robinson, who died in September. Mr Stevenson has had 37 years’ fire-fighting experience, all of it in the Christchurch brigade. He has risen from fireman, to senior fireman, station officer, senior station officer, fourth officer, third officer, to deputy-chief. Mr C. C. Warner, Mr Steven, son’s uncle, was Chief Fire Officer in Christchurch when Mr Stevenson joined the brigade. Mr C, W. Stevenson a brother, served 25 years with
the Wanganui Fire Brigade, reaching the rank of third officer. Mr Stevenson is the longest-
serving member of the Christchurch brigade. The Chief Fire Officer (Mr L. R. Osmond) has also served 37 yean, but not all nf it with the Christchurch brigade. , Mr Stevenson was an associate member of the British Institute of Fire Engineers far 21 yean and an associate member of the New Zealand Fin Brigades* Institute for the same period.
