The vessel had just arrived from New Zealand. Soon after the discovery immigration authorities announced they would take no action against the trio because each had an entry visa to Australia. The tyo men have been signed on as members of the crew and the woman will be flown back to New Zealand when the ship arrives in Melbourne.

Ship’s officers refused to reveal the names of the stowaways.

[The Avanti arrived at Lyttelton from the Persian Gulf on December 8 and left for Wellington the next day.]
