J. WALLACE HOLDINGS

Current Work Exceeds £7m (N.Z. Preu A»xn. —Copyright) SYDNEY, Dec. 20. Current work on hand by James Wallace (Holdings), Ltd., exceeds £7m, the chairman (Mr N. W. Clark) told shareholders at the annual meeting. He said that since the end of the financial year, two major contracts had been secured by the construction com-pany-one in Gladstone, Queensland, for the construction of an alumina plant—and the other for the University of Auckland, in New Zealand. These two contracts alone total more than £3m. However, Mr Clark said that no major contracts had been completed since last June.

During the last six months the company's liquidity position had been improved by the disposal- of certain longterm investments. The chairman said that although these were producing reasonable returns, they were restricting the company's turn-over capacity.
