BIG-GAME FISHING

9 Overseas Entries (N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI. Although entries do not close until the end of the year, it appears that at least nine overseas teams will compete in the world big-game fishing contest in New Zealand, from February 24 to March 4.

It is expected that up to 100 New Zealand teams will also take part. Overseas entries reported yesterday by the secretary of the New Zealand Big-Game Fishing Council (Mr A. Aston) were from California, Sydney, and Balboa.

It is fairly definite that teams will come from South Africa, South Australia, Tasmania, and Hawaii.

New Zealand bases for the contest will be at Whangaroa, Bay of Islands, Tutukaka, Kawau Island, Mercury Bay and Mayor Island.
