HAMILTON. A large representation will help to make the North Island championships one of the best fixtures held at Hamilton.

Falling between the Auckland and the New Zealand championships, the North Island tournament starts at Lugton Park, Hamilton, on January 1. Among the entries from Australia are the South Australian country women’s champion, Miss K. Rosser, and the prominent Victorian junior girl, Miss M. Kynaston. There will be an Australian universities team of four men and four women, whose names have not yet been received by Waikato L.T.A. officials. The New Zealand Linton

and Wilson Cups junior teams will also appear. The boys’ team comprises B. F. Fairlie, J. Mitchell, O. Parun and D. Cassidy; the girls* team B. Vercoe, D. Kerr-Taylor, S. Collins and J. Elliott. Form in this tournament, as well as the Auckland and New Zealand fixtures, will be closely watched by the national selectors with a view to their choice of a Davis Cup team.

The top New Zealand player, L. A. Gerrard, heads the entries for the men’s events.
