WALTERS AGAIN
Follows 113 With 84 (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) ADELAIDE. K. D. Walters, Australia’s latest cricket “find,” celebrated his twentieth birthday with a polished 84 for New South Wales against South Australia at Adelaide yesterday. But his knock, which followed an unbeaten 113 in the first innings, failed to save New South Wales, the Sheffield Shield holder, from defeat.
Set to get 256 in 200 minutes to win. South Australia scored the runs with half-an-hour to spare. It won by four wickets in a match which produced 1568 runs in four days. New South Wales, which had declared its second Innings at 436 for eight, looked likely to win When it claimed five South Australian wickets for 147. However, a whirlwind sixthwicket partnership of 86 in 38 minutes between K. Cunningham and G. Griffiths pul South Australia on the victory path.
