MAUGHAM CREMATED
<v ZPA.-Jteutei— CopvrigM? MARSEILLES, December 21. William Somerset Maugham, who died at his Riviera villa last Thursday after a stroke, was cremated privately today. There were no flowers by request and there was no ceremony. The ashes of the writer, who was 91, will be flown »o England tomorrow for a family service in Canterbup Cathedral on Wednesday. The ashes will remain in the cathedral. according to Maugham's wishes. jz
