Favourites Meet In Quarter-Final

ZURICH. The English soccer champion, Manchester United, and Benfica (Portugal), two of the favourites for the 1965-66 European Cup, have been drawn to meet in the quarterfinals. Benfica won the cup in 1961 and 1962 and lost by the only

goal in last season’s final, against Internazionale-Milan. Manchester United will be attempting to reach its third semi-final, having got to this stage in 1957 and 1958. No British dub has ever won the cup. Internationale, winner for the last two seasons, will play Ferencvaros (Hungary) if it beats Dynamo Bucharest in their second leg match in Milan. Real Madrid, which has won the trophy five times, will play Anderiecht (Belgium).

In the European Cup Winners* Cup quarter-finals, the holder. West Ham United, meets Aufbau Magdeburg (East Germany). Dynamo Kiev, Russia’s first representative in a major European soccer competition, is drawn to play Glasgow Celtic. The other semi-finals will be between Liverpool, Britain’s third dub in the last eight, against Hohved (Hungary), and Atletico Madrid v. Borussia Bortmund.
