REGATTA ON SUNDAY
16 Events On Programme The Cure Boating Club did not hold a regatta last season, but is making up for it this year by holding, tomorrow, one of the most ambitious regattas seen in Canterbury for some time. It comprises 16 events and more than 50 heats. Two new trophies will be contested, the Lawrence Orchard Memorial Cup, named after a former member, and the Cure Boating Club Cup, donated by the president, Mr R. Smith.
The former will be won by the club with the highest aggregate points and the latter for the same in the fours and pairs. The Cure club, which has been quiet for the last three years, has entered for 12 events, including a Maori crew in the novice fours. The members come from Tuahiwi and is thought to be the first Maori rowing crew in Canterbury.
