Ford And Niarchos (N.Z. Press Assn—-Copyright > NEW YORK. December 17. Henry Ford Il’s 24-year-old daughter, Charlotte, married the 54-year-old Greek shipping magnate, Stavros Niarchos, in Mexico, yesterday in a wedding that merged two of the world’s great fortunes.

The wedding of Miss Ford and the “Golden Greek" caught international society by surprise. Niarchos ship holdings were estimated at one time to be worth 260 million dollars. The bride was elected to the world’s list of. best dressed women this year with her sister, Anne. It was the third marriage for Mr Niarchos, a dark, handsome man who pioneered super tankers for the transport of oil. His 1939 marriage to Melpomene Capparis was dissolved in 1947 and he married the Greek shipping heiress, Eugenie Livanos, the same year. They have three sons.

It was not known when Mr Niarchos obtained his divorce from the former Miss Livanos. Nor was it known when his friendship with Miss Ford became a romance, since the couple had not been seen publicly together in New York, where the bride is constantly in the social limelight. The ceremony was performed in Juarez by Judge Baltazar Aguirre. The couple left afterwards for a honeymoon in the Bahamas, and plan to live in Europe later.
