N.W. All-Weather Road
(NZPA-Reuter—Copyright) OTTAWA, (Canada) The Fort Smith to Hay River Highway in Canada’s North-west Territories is to be open for traffic in the autumn of 1988, the Northern Affairs Minister, Mr Arthur Laing, announced. Plans are to call advance tenders on a one-year contract to build a 80-mile stretch of road to start 87 miles west of Fort Smith and whiriC to the west, will connect" with ah existing road frunrPine Faint to 'the Hay river highway-. This will-advance the original completion date by one full year. For r raid eats and business interests in the Fort Smith area, completion of the road win mean an all-werther transportation link with Hay river, and other points north as well as the provincial highway notworka to the south.
