NO PLANS TO QUIT

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND.

Earl Nikora had no plans for retiring from boxing, his manager, Mr W. Baker, said yesterday.

“Nikora will not be hanging, up his gloves until he is ready to, and not before,” said Mr Baker. Commenting on the opinion expressed by the Auckland boxing referee, Mr B Lyall, on Saturday that it was time Nikora gave up, Mr Baker said: “Mr Lyall wants to stick to refereeing instead of trying to tell Earl and myself what to do. “We’ve had this all before. People say that Earl is punchy and that for his own good he should quit. My answer to this is that Earl’s brain is more alert than most and if there was any question of serious injury we would be the first to call it a day.”
