Road Deaths Rise To 523

WELLINGTON, Dec. 9.

Up to 4.30 p.m. today 523 road deaths had been reported to the Transport Department this year. At this time last year only 396 had been reported.

The toll for December so far is nine. At the same time last December, 11 had died. A later death has brought November’s toll to 35. Load Shifted When the load on his truck shifted on a corner and the vehicle rolled over, a driver suffered injuries from which he died on the way from Taupo to the Rotorua Hospital this afternoon.
