Police Still Seeking Mr Brown
Christchurch detectives yesterday continued a house-to-house search of the SpreydonHalswell area for a Mr Brown they wish to get in touch with because they are informed he was shown round a house at 100 Innes road, St Albans, about 10.40 am. on December 1.
That was the day on which Mrs Beta Jane Coxhead was found dead in her home at 9 Albany street, St Albans. The Chief Detective (Mr S. B. McEwen) said yesterday that the Mr Brown sought was aged about 40, was believed to have arrived in Christchurch not long before December 1, and had a family of three. Mr McEwen said that any Mr Brown who had viewed the property at 100 Innes road on December 1 was asked to get in touch with the C. 1.8. office at the Christchurch Central Police Station.
Hedge Fire.—Fire destroyed 10ft of hedge on an empty section on the corner of Grahams road and Memorial avenue yesterday morning. The Waimairi County Council tender and engines from St. Albans and Headquarters fire stations answered the alarm given at 8.39 a.m.
