Performance In Bars The combined Christchurch drama groups have begun a series of performances of the modern nativity play written by the Rev. John Weir, S.M., which was performed some 70-odd times last Christmas Gregory Kane, who directs the performances, said yesterday that it was a controversial play performed in modern dress. Last year two performances were given in bars—at the Richmond Workingmen’s Club and the Returned Services’ Association —and the same would be done this year. The names of the bars were being kept secret, but It had been arranged with the proprietors to give the performances from 6 p.m. to 6.15 p.m. on dates to be decided. The actors are Ted Lovesitch, Cecily Brennan. Michael Pratt, and Marion Shaughnessy. They have already presented the play in Blenheim, for the Interdenominational Women's League at Sumner. : and for the Irish National Society.
