OPERATORS’ BAN

Christmas Day Films (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 4. Wellington, Auckland, and Canterbury motion-picture projectionists have refused to work on Christmas Day. The Projectionists’ Union national president (Mr L. E. Jefferies) said today that the union’s decision was in line with the tradition stated by the union in the last 25 years. Projectionists in other centres were expected to refuse similar work on Christmas Day. Canterbury had earlier decided against working, and other branch unions were expected to oppose Christmas Day work, he said.

Spokesmen for the Kerri dge and Amalgamated Theatres organisations said today that there was no plan to open their picture theatres on Christmas Day.
