Wanaka - Haast - Paringa

Sir. —A visitors’ book at a Paringa motel has an entry that an overland journey was made on February 21, 1964, from Wanakr township to Paringa in 12 hours. One wonders if any mistake has been made in the entry since on that date a considerable distance was still unroaded. If the old cattle track was used between Haast and Paringa it would seem most unlikely that this journey could be made in 12 hours, or even twice that.— Yours, etc.

INTERESTED. November 3, 1965.
