FLIGHTS TO SYDNEY

Increase In Traffic

In October —the first month during which DCB jet aircraft were used—Air New Zealand carried 2567 passengers to and from Christchurch and Sydney, said the district manager (Mr A. T. Gillmore). By contrast, he said, during the company’s first year as T.E.A.L.—to March 31, 1941 —when Short Empire flying boats were in use, 1461 passengers had been carried. Last month's passenger traffic involved 30 aircraft movements, whereas there were 130 movements in 194041 to carry just over half the number of passengers.

Mr Gillmore said that in the company's first year, seven tons of cargo had been carried. Last month the total carried by the DCB's was 13.6 tons.
