Rod Laver, back to his brilliant best after several listless displays, defeated reigning world champion, Ken Rosewall, 6-2, 8-6, to win the Durban professional tennis championships on Sunday. The doubles final between Laver and Earl Buchholz of the United States and Rosewall and Mai Anderson of Australia was abandoned because of rain, with the scores at one set each and two games all in the final set
