Chuvalo Should Be Heavier
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) TORONTO. The Canadian champion, George Chuvalo, is expected to have a six-pound weight advantage when he meets Ernie Terrell, holder of the World Boxing Association version of the world heavy-weight title, in a championship bout in -Toronto at 3 p.m., New Zealand time today.
Terrell, the slender 6ft 6in fighter from Chicago, is likely to be 14st 71b at this afternoon’s weigh-in. The barrelchested Canadian will probably go to scale at 14st 131 b. The fight is the lesser of November’s two world heavyweight championships aimed at clearing up the tangle situation by next spring. Although Terrell is recognised by the W.B.A. as world
champion, most of the boxing world regards Cassius Clay, who meets Floyd Patterson on November 22, as champion. Terrell, who is 26, has a record of 37 victories and only four defeats in his career. He has scored 18 knock-outs. Chuvalo is 28 and has won 33 fights, 27 by knock-outs, and lost nine. He has also boxed two draws.
