PLAYER TROPHY
Award To Hammond (Special Crspdt. NZ.P.A.) ILKLEY. R. D. Hammond, the hardworking Kiwi second-row forward, won the “Player of the Match” award trophy for the New Zealand Rugby League player with the greatest number of points in the tourists’ 22 matches in England. Hammond won the competition, which was sponsored by a leading British cigarette company, from the “baby” of the touring side, R. 1. Orchard. Hammond gained 31 points and Orchard 30. The captain, W. L. Snowden, who gained four points for second-best performance in the Kiwis’ last game against Wakefield Trinity, finished in third position with 21 points and P. Schultz was fourth with 19 points.
