Youths Stole Property Worth Over £24,000

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 1. A growing tendency for teen-agers to live together in Hats, away from the guidance they needed, made it inevitable that many drifted into some sort of moral lapse, said Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., today. He described a group of teen-agers who came before him for sentence on a total of 113 charges as “the worst organisation of young people to come to my notice for some time.” Last week, he was told how between March 7 and October

15, the gang took cars and other property worth more than £24,000 and caused £1341 worth of damage. Today, counsel denied a police statement that the youths had been organised in a gang calling themselves “Crime Incorporated.” Martin Christopher Eames, aged 20, who had admitted five charges of burglary, two of conversion and one of theft, was gaoled for 18 months. Julian Glen Fernandez Rangiuia, aged 18, Raymond John Pedder, aged 17, and John Selwyn Eaton, aged 17, were sentenced to Borstal training.
