State Rentals
Sir. —“E.V.” needs to be wakened up if he thinks State Advances loans are a form of scrounging. To begin with, a person seeking a loan must have his own section or a reasonable amount of capi-i tai: and remember that homeowners not only pay their State loan back with interest but they also have rates, maintenance and general repairs to pay for. This, of course, takes initiative. The State rentals should be at least enough to cover general repairs and maintenance, and this is what the Government has in mind. All those complaining about the State Rental Bill should remember that their wages have steadily increased under the National Government. It is therefore about time that the rentals were adjusted accordingly.—Yours, etc., F.W.P.F. October 25, 1965.
