Work For Hotel

AUCKLAND, Oct. 20.
Work began today on the demolition of buildings occupying the site of the £3.3 million Inter-continental Hotel in Princes Street, Auckland. The chairman of Auckland Inter-continental Properties Ltd., Mr F. H. Renouf, said today that the general contract for construction of the 14-storey hotel would be let in January. Work is expected to begin in February. Apart from the licensed hotel, which will be 136 feet, the project will have a four-storey office building and a parking building.
There will be 11 floors of 32 bedrooms each with its own bathroom and a top-floor restaurant seating 160.
Victorian Oranges Due.— The Union Steamship Company's motor vessel. Navua is due at Lyttelton from Wellington tomorrow with more than 14.000 cases of Victorian oranges for local discharge.
