Results Of Garden Competition

The Canterbury Horticul tural Society’s annual hill and rock garden competition was judged by Messrs J. Watling, L. Metcalf, and D. Riach. They said that because of the unusual weather this spring, the gardens had not been so colourful. Entries were down but entries in the rock garden sections were of a very high quality. Results were:—

Small Rock Gardens.—Mit B. Yuill, 107 Hawford road, 1; S. T. Ruske, 119 Halswell road, 2; G. Paterson, 17 Tahau street, 3. Hill Gardens.—Class 2: T. W, C. Tothill, Kennedy’s Bush road, 1. Class 3: Mrs L. Steel, 69 St. Andrews Hill, 1.

Alpine trophy for the best collection of alpine plants: Mrs Yuill.
