MISSILE SITE

Darwin May Be Used

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) SYDNEY, October 18. A missile site may be built at Darwin, in Australia’s Northern Territory, the Minister for Supply, Allen Fairhail, said in Sydney today. Mr Fairhall said Darwin was preferred to Woomera for missile launchings because communications satellites could be launched there on an easterly orbit rather than a polar one. He said it was impractical—“although not impossible”— to achieve an orbit from Woomera. Mr Fairhall visited Italy, France, Britain and America during his trip.
